Professional graphic design matters.
Your image matters. First impressions matter. Colours and layout and fonts set the tone before a person reads a single word.
In the ever more cluttered newspapers and web, it’s even more important to stand out. One of my clients said to me, “But I just want to sell my product, I don’t care if the layout will win a design award!”
The graphic designer’s job is to make the piece (newspaper ad, website, or whatever) attractive enough at the very first glance for people to want to really look at it, read what it says and then take action to buy it! So, everything matters as all the elements must work together towards this common goal of attaining the desired results.
People are not interested in wasting their time reading something that doesn’t pique their interest. Once you have their interest, you offer them a solution to a problem they may not know that they have. You have very little time to attract their attention – just seconds really, for them to decide whether to actually keep looking at it or move on to something else. So your message has to be eye-catching, clear and simple.
When you want results, you want to make sure you are doing everything possible to get them. This means professional design matters.
